The Sweetest Thing: the History of Sugar

Ruth Nobbs has kindly agreed to come to us again.  It covers many aspects of the history of sugar, including: the cultivation, extraction and processing of cane and beet; tracing the dramatic rise of the use of sugar in Britain and its importance to the wealth of individuals and to the country as a whole (even leading to trade wars being fought); and the current state of the sugar industry and consumption today.

This event is free of charge.
